Summer Fun

Well first of all let me tell everyone that I returned to work on June 23rd. The first day was really rough. I cried about 1/2 the way to work and got a bit choked up when people would ask "How are you? How is the baby?" It's not easy to suddenly go from being with her 24/7 to having to leave her sweetly sleeping in her crib at 6:00 a.m. But each day got a little easier. I still miss her like crazy throughout the day but I know she's in good hands--her daddy's!

We have spent the past two weekends getting out of the house and doing some "family stuff." Last weekend we ventured down to Quantico to check out the Marine Corps Museum. It is by far one of the best museums I have ever been to. I highly recommend it if you are in the area. It is an excellent overview of American History and the wars we have been involved in. It is much more than just a tribute to the Marines. In the Vietnam display you walk thru the belly of a Chinook helicopter. Below is a video I took so you can kinda of see how it is done. What was so fascinating to me was the sound of the propeller. In the video it isn't super loud because it was just restarting but at full go it is amazing.

Yesterday, The Fourth of July, we went into Warrenton for the annual Kids and Pets parade. It is one of the shortest parades I've ever seen. Kids on bikes, in wagons, walking, being carried and dogs of all sorts were decked out in red, white, and blue and walk about 4 blocks from the center of town to the courthouse. We got there with about a block left to go!
We did see Uncle Sam.

And stopped for ice cream on the way home. Since it was a little before 11 am when the ice cream stand opened we decided to take some self-family portraits.

Next weekend we hope to go up to Ohio for a few days. Bob and Lindsay are still in town and Gramma is coming to visit as well. So Sophia will have the chance to meet her Aunt Julia, Aunt Lindsay, Uncle Bob, Grampa, and Great Gramma. I can't wait!

Here are some other photos taken over the last few weeks.
